Weekend Update

Trying to fight off a cold...no fun.  But that meant plenty of time to rest and relax this weekend, load up on Vitamin C and Zinc and Chicken Soup (thanks, Mom for dropping it off!!!), do a bit of shopping - online and a mall trip, and enjoy the snow...yes, we got more snow here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  But unlike most people I know, I LOVE SNOW...love love love love.  My nickname at work is the Snow Pixie because I'm the only one that gets excited about it.  We've had quite a lot of snow so far this winter, but it just doesn't get old for me; it's a great excuse to keep your pjs on and be lazy!  I'm ready for a few more snowstorms to come!  Or can we get a blizzard?!?!?!?

Matt came up with a great idea on Friday morning to have a date night and do dinner and a movie.  We've been trying to make sure we have these regular date nights to take time to reconnect and focus on us and not get caught up in daily grind - we do work together which can sometimes be challenging, but I think we are finding a good balance to avoid completely getting sick of other!  We ended up seeing "American Hustle" which I really enjoyed.  I'm always a fan of cons, heists, etc and with such a great cast, how can you go wrong?!  I loved the small details - the curlers, the science oven.  I've got to catch up on the other award season favorites and nominees, but I'm excited to see how it fairs come Oscar night.

We had some snow on Saturday (YAY) and did the normal farmers market, errands routine during the day.  I wasn't feeling well, so tried to rest up as much as I could.  Today, Sunday, was pretty much the same...napping, fluids, rest.  With the Super Bowl approaching, preparations are underway for the annual chili cook-off competition at our company.  Matt, a previous chili cook-off winner and company appointed Chili King, is looking for another win!  We switched up a few things with the recipe this year...good idea or bad idea?  We'll just have to wait til Friday to see, but the practice batch is simmering away on the stove and smells incredible.  Can't wait to see how it turned out!

Fingers crossed that my immune system gets it together so I can be on the road to recovery soon!  No time to be sick!
